Marlene Stafford Pelt: Southern Gospel Singer / Songwriter
Marlene was born in Santa Paula, California to L.G. and Dorothy Stafford. Later they moved to a little town called Hackett, Arkansas where she grew up with her three brothers in a christian home surrounded by music. Marlene accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and followed Him in water baptism at the tender age of seven.
Marlene has sung with many local groups through the years. At the age of 24, Marlene began to write her own songs but it was not until 20 years later she started walking through the doors God began to open for her and her music. Stepping out with faith in God and the support of her husband, Tommy Pelt, she sings her words of testimony.
In 2003, Marlene went into the studio for the very first time and recorded her music that has stood the test of time. Her music has blessed and touched many hearts through her ministry of song.
Marlene found it to be a great honor when she received an award for female vocalist 2003, 2004, 2005 and Gospel Pen Songwriter of the Year 2004 in the “Branson Gospel Singer Songwriters Association”.
Marlene is a member of BGSSA “Branson Gospel Singer Songwriter Association” and CGMA “Country Gospel Music Association”. She is also a registered BMI writer and Publisher of Marlene Stafford Pelt Publishing.
Her song “One Stone at a Time” recorded by Kevin Spencer & Friends was released as a National single in 2007. It charted at #1 on the Christian Voice Magazine Top 100. It also charted at #1 on Power Source, #2 on Radioactive Airplay, and #31 on the Singing News Top 80. In 2008 Kevin and Friends recorded "Go and Tell" from Marlene's second project "Stepping Stones" which features singer Starla Dean.
She is thankful to have had many of her songs recorded by other artist like "Amazed" with Eddie Crook and Company from Sherman, Texas, the Lecroy Sisters from Branson, Missouri and Kevin Martin from Bradenton, Florida.
In 2008 she introduced herself for the first time as Singer and writer to Radio with “You Gotta Live It Down Here”, "Still Believe”, and "Stepping Stones", songs that have been written from the heart of what she knows and believes.
